Dimmitt Cares & the 2025 Youth Energy Academy
On July 10, 2025, Dimmitt Automotive Group proudly partnered with Duke Energy for the annual Youth Energy Academy, a summer initiative designed to introduce local students to the world of energy, sustainability, and career pathways in STEM. Hosted at Duke Energy’s local facilities, this impactful day of learning exposed students to the inner workings of energy systems, future technologies, and opportunities to get involved through internships and education.

Empowering Future Generations
The Youth Energy Academy gives middle and high school students from diverse communities the opportunity to explore careers in the energy sector. This includes hands-on learning, facility tours, and direct conversations with Duke Energy professionals. Students gain a better understanding of how energy impacts their communities and how they can be part of shaping a more sustainable future.

Dimmitt’s Role: Electric Vehicle Education
As part of this year’s program, Dimmitt brought a Cadillac LYRIQ — an all-electric luxury SUV — to the academy. Our team conducted an engaging presentation on the LYRIQ’s cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) technology, sustainability features, and the future of automotive innovation.
Students got the opportunity to explore the vehicle inside and out — from the sleek dashboard interface to the roomy cargo space under the hood.

The LYRIQ presentation helped students connect the dots between energy infrastructure and transportation innovation. Discussions also included how electric vehicles reduce carbon emissions and why education in science and technology is essential for future innovation.
Inspiring the Next Wave of Innovators
One of the most inspiring moments of the day was seeing the students light up with curiosity. Whether they were tapping through the LYRIQ’s digital features, sitting in the driver’s seat, or chatting with Duke Energy representatives about internships, it was clear this experience left a lasting impression.
